Will a MaggieFrame Magnetic Hoop Fit My BAi or Tajima?
Share
A MaggieFrame magnetic hoop must match your machine’s mounting system as well as your design. Check the exact machine model, bracket shape, fitting length and usable embroidery area before ordering. Seeing “BAi” or “Tajima” in a product title is a starting point; it does not mean every hoop fits every model.
If you embroider workwear, uniforms or personalised garments in the UK or Ireland, getting these details right makes buying another hoop much simpler. Here is what to check and what to send us if you would like help.
Hoop size and fitting length describe different things
Our MaggieFrame 130 × 130 mm hoop with a 360 mm fitting is a useful example. The 130 × 130 mm measurement describes the listed hoop size. The 360 mm measurement identifies its fitting version. It does not give you a 360 mm embroidery area.
The usable stitching area is another consideration. Your machine, hoop configuration and design position determine what can safely be embroidered. Do not treat a nominal hoop measurement as a promise that a design of exactly that size will fit.
| Detail | What you are checking |
|---|---|
| Listed hoop size | Whether the hoop is suitable for the intended garment and design. |
| Fitting length | Whether the fitting version matches your machine’s hoop mounting arrangement. |
| Bracket shape and orientation | Whether the hoop can mount correctly and securely. |
| Usable embroidery area | Whether the complete design stays within the permitted stitching area. |
Start with the exact machine model
Find the model designation on your machine and include any relevant version information. “BAi embroidery machine” or “Tajima multi-needle” leaves too much room for a mismatch. A clear photograph of the model plate and the hoop mounting arms gives us a better starting point.
If you already have a hoop that fits correctly, keep it nearby. Its mounting assembly is useful for comparison. Photograph the whole hoop and both brackets, with a ruler visible when taking a measurement. Ask which points to measure if you are unsure; measurements taken from different points can look similar while describing different things.
Check the brackets as well as the measurement
A matching length on its own is not enough. The bracket profile, orientation and way it engages with the machine must also be correct. MaggieFrame’s own fitting guidance identifies hoop length and bracket orientation as checks when a hoop feels misaligned.
Do not force a hoop into place or bend a bracket to make it fit. Stop and check the selected version and installation guidance. Send us photographs of the mounting area if anything feels uncertain.
Choose a hoop around the job you actually sew
For a chest logo, start with the finished design dimensions and the garment. Then check the usable area of the proposed hoop on your machine. A pocket, seam or narrow opening may affect the setup even when the design looks small enough.
There is no single hoop size that suits every placement. A useful enquiry includes the garment type, logo width and height, and intended position. Browse the MaggieFrame magnetic hoop range with those details in mind.
Check the setup before starting production
Follow your machine and hoop instructions for installation and hoop selection. Check that the hoop is secure, the garment is supported and loose fabric is clear of the intended stitching path. Use the machine’s trace or outline procedure as instructed to confirm the design position before sewing.
If the controller does not show the exact hoop, ask for guidance for that machine and configuration. Do not assume that choosing a larger setting makes the setup suitable. Recheck after changes to the design position or mounting arrangement.
Common compatibility questions
Does a 360 mm fitting suit every BAi machine?
No universal fit should be assumed. We need the exact model and mounting details to check the correct version.
Can the same magnetic hoop be used on BAi and Tajima?
Some configurations may use compatible fittings, but that must be checked for both machines. The brand names alone do not establish interchangeability.
Does fitting the machine mean it will fit a hooping station?
These are separate checks. The station’s fixture must suit the hoop, and the hoop’s brackets must suit the machine. Our guide to hooping stations explains how the two work together.
Ask BAi UK to check before you order
Contact BAi UK with your machine model, photographs of the existing hoop fittings, and your usual garment and design size. We can check which version to recommend for your setup. If you are also choosing a machine, explore the BAi Mirror and ask to discuss your intended work.
